Divertissement: September songs

September is my favorite month (not coincidentally it is also my birth month) and for a few years I've been collecting songs about September. Every year I revise and bump the list, with updated YouTube links where I can find them, on my personal blog. Unfortunately the personal blog is taking an extended, possibly permanent, vacation, now that Twitter and Facebook have given me more efficient ways to gripe about the morons on the L and the fact that I frequently need coffee. So, I'm publicizing the list here instead.

September songfest!

Celebrate September with someone you love. I suggest this cuddly katydid:

October and May have always been my favorites months, and my birthday is in November. The only song I can think of that mentions November is the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Joy!

Cheery! The only November thing I can think of is the Guy Fawkes Night poem ("Remember remember the fifth of November") but I don't know if it's ever been set to music. My husband is a November baby, too. Isn't the gemstone something yellowish-orange?

I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favorite month, but September is definitely up there. I love the light in September and October, and the cooler temps (although this year most of the summer the temps have felt like September.) You've got a nice collection of September songs.

Happy Birthday month Diane! September's a great birthday month with it's mild weather and beautiful sunshine.

Mine's in November like Monica's - the gemstone is topaz (yellow, sometimes leaning towards gold or orang-ish.) I've never really had a burning desire for yellow birthstone bling.
