The Author grew up in Rockford, Illinois, which is bigger than you think and is not a suburb of Chicago.

Artist Alexander Liberman created this sculpture, called "Symbol," which captures the spirit of the city and stirs the hearts and minds of natives and visitors alike.

The Author doesn't get it, either.

The City planted this tree in front of our house. Pretty! Acer x freemanii, for you compulsive horticulturists. A Red maple/Silver maple hybrid.
